Three macro trends have completely changed the way shippers approach transportation management. These trends also greatly increase the importance of finding solutions to logistics problems faster than ever before.
- Customer demands — Customers now expect their order to be shipped to them today, at no cost, with complete visibility to when it will arrive.
- End-to-end visibility requirements — Due to the velocity of business today, it is almost a requirement that when a company orders product they have complete visibility to the goods from the time the purchase order is created to when the item is shipped to the end user.
- Increased complexity of the supply chain — Products are sourced from all over the world now. Purchase orders are becoming smaller and more frequent. Multiple shipping modes are being used, and the overall speed of business has increased.
Finding Solutions Faster with IIM
To find solutions to the inevitable logistics problems, shippers need data. They need data that tells an accurate story, so they can find out what is causing the issue behind the problem. Then, they need to decide what solution to apply to the issue, with the ability to measure and monitor the solution to ensure it actually solves the issue.
It sounds like a tall order, but all of this is possible with the real-time, accurate, standardized and normalized data from Intelligent Invoice ManagementSM (IIM). This data is integrated with our modeling environment so RateLinx allows for faster solutioning to issues that are causing problems. Our analytics provide the measuring and monitoring of the solution to ensure the chosen solution is solving the issue and delivering the value to the end customer.
The 3D Approach
IIM is joined by ShipLinx TMS and RateLinx Radar Track & TraceSM to create our three product families with four modules between them. With our software products and services, we use the 3D approach—Diagnose, Develop, and Deploy—to solve today’s most stubborn supply chain problems. Data is used to diagnose what is causing the issue by getting the answers to the how and why. Strategies can be developed and then, with the data, scenarios can be modeled based on those strategies. Customers can use the tools within their current environment supplemented with some of the modules from the RateLinx suite to deploy the strategy. The data from IIM is then used to measure the before and after effect of the strategy. This ensures issues are solved and that there are no value leaks in the supply chain.
A Single Rating Engine is Key
What makes this all possible is the RateLinx single rating engine. This powerful engine is key to providing the actionable data required for our 3-step approach to finding solutions. Because the same rating engine is used to plan orders, determine the carrier, and tender shipments, our solutions can provide accurate results. When there is a problem, RateLinx can point directly to the company’s rule that is causing the issue. This allows faster, accurate resolution.
Managed Services Keeps Data on Track
To keep the data standardized and normalized in the IIM data service, we have our Managed Services group. Staffed with experienced supply chain professionals, they understand the challenges our customers are faced with every day. Because they are constantly monitoring the data, they can help our customers during the 3D process diagnose an issue, develop strategies, and deploy the strategies. The Managed Services group can also respond more rapidly to any issue that a shipper is having.
